Biography
Dr. Lourdes Benes is a board-certified neurologist with fellowship training in Cognitive & Memory Disorders and Movement Disorders. She is the Medical Director of Neurology One and the Founder of Neuro Fit Brain Fitness. With over two decades of medical practice, Dr. Benes specializes in caring for patients with Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Mild Cognitive Impairment, Frontotemporal Dementia, and Lewy Body Dementia. An expert in brain health and fitness, she provides training for patients with cognitive and behavioral disorders and those seeking to enhance mental acuity and overall cognitive well-being.
Dr. Benes is a assistant professor at UCF College of Medicine, where she teaches residents and medical students on various neurology topics. She holds memberships in the American Academy of Neurology, American Medical Association, Movement Disorders Society, Florida Medical Association, American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and Alzheimer’s Association International Society to Advance Alzheimer’s Research and Treatment. Her dedication to research is evident through her active participation in various clinical trials and studies aimed at discovering innovative treatments for neurological disorders. Dr. Benes has published numerous articles in prestigious scientific journals, providing valuable insights into critical issues in neurology.
Dr. Benes is deeply engaged with the community, often participating in local health fairs, providing educational seminars, and collaborating with community organizations to raise awareness about neurological health. She actively supports the Alzheimer’s Association by facilitating caregiver support groups and organizing events to support patients and families affected by neurological conditions. Her community involvement is extensive, demonstrating a commitment to improving neurological health awareness and providing support to those in need.
In addition to her clinical practice and community work, Dr. Benes is passionate about educating the next generation of medical professionals. As the Neurology Clerkship Site Director at UCF College of Medicine, she ensures that medical students receive comprehensive training in neurology. She frequently mentors students and residents, guiding them through the complexities of neurological care and research.

Dr. Benes' journey in neurology began with a deep-rooted desire to make a difference in the lives of those affected by neurological conditions. Her personal experiences with family members suffering from cognitive disorders have fueled her passion for this field. She is driven by a mission to improve the quality of life for her patients, their families, and caregivers providing them with the support and resources they need to manage their conditions effectively. Her holistic approach emphasizes not only medical treatment but also emotional and psychological support, ensuring comprehensive care for her patients.
Dr. Benes and her family live in Orlando, FL where they enjoy an active lifestyle raising their kids. She is honored to have followed in her father’s footsteps of becoming a physician as he is an OBGYN and yes, he delivered her three babies as well as all his grandchildren. Her mother is a special human being who instilled in her the faith and work ethic she follows daily. Her father-in-law, Dr. Hector Cases has been a great influence in her career as well. He is a neurologist with 45 plus years of experience and still going on strong. Dr. Benes enjoys playing tennis, exercising, and traveling. She is blessed to have married her college sweetheart, Eduardo, who is an investment advisor.
